The things that many of us save over the years -- letters, cards, school reports, gifts, hobbies, family papers, photo albums, work projects, and other treasures -- are exactly what Michael Small has been collecting since 1964. If you're a saver, you know it isn't easy to part with your stash. It's like throwing away your memories. Then again, do we really want to leave behind a mess for someone else to toss when we're gone? So Michael is taking action. Listen in as he and friends share the tales behind what they've saved, and then try to give it away or throw it out. Is Michael the world's worst Swedish Death Cleaner? Maybe. Between 1990 and 1992, Michael Small interviewed more than 60 heroes of old-school hip-hop for his book Break It Down: The Inside Leaders of Rap. He still has all his photos, notes, and tapes of his audio interviews, which have never been shared. It's hip-hop history. But it's just sitting there in a box. Should he keep it all? Or toss it after all these years? Well... before doing anything drastic, he's sharing his audio interviews on I Couldn't Throw It Out -- so you can help him decide. For all these years, he saved his notes, rough drafts and audio interviews, including every item related to three years of writing the Chatter gossip column on People's last page. Should he keep it? Toss it? Give it away? On I Couldn't Throw It Out, he shares his audio interviews with the stars of movies, TV, music, and art. Then -- in an attempt at some Swedish Death Cleaning -- he invites guests to help him decide what to keep, what to give away and what just might end up in the trash.
